New Britain Township Parks & Recreation
Mission Statement

It is the mission of the New Britain Township Parks and Recreation Department to provide every citizen of the township equal opportunity for adequate and safe recreational and cultural activities - within a network of parks and greenways that also helps to preserve and protect the township's natural resources.

We believe that; Recreational fields can be built in a park like setting without the need for billboards and unnecessary signage, that recreational facilities can and should serve both organized sports and informal gatherings and community activities, that facilities can and should be provided for all age groups, and that township sponsored activities and facilities should not compete with the free enterprise system and our local businesses.

Cotton Park

The development of the Cotton Park Site will allow for a wide variety of uses to serve the needs of Township residents. A significant portion of newly acquired property will allow for preservation and enhancement of the riparian area of the tributary of the West Branch of the Neshaminy Creek, providing wildlife habitat and areas for passive recreation activities.

Publicly held Parks and Recreation Committee meetings were utilized to gather feedback from residents, the general public and organized sports groups. Based on these meetings, the goals and objectives relating to Cotton Park include: develop the Park to meet active and passive recreation needs of New Britain Township Residents; provide active recreation opportunities; respect the existing site features while designing the park.

The resulting Cotton Park site design is a unique combination of uses and landscapes that addresses the goals and objectives identified by the Township and its residents. The park will provide:

  • Premier Baseball and Softball fields; along with supporting facilities including dugouts, bullpens, lighting, restrooms and a concession structure.
  • A multi-use flexible field for additional field sports.
  • A large area designated for an ADA-accessible destination playground.
  • A smaller adventure or nature-type play area with a supporting pavilion structure.
  • Additional alternative play areas include a small splash pad area and bicycle pump track.
  • Over one mile of trails loop through the site and connect across Schoolhouse Road into the existing trail network at West Branch Park.
  • Woodland and meadow habitats will be enhanced to provide a complimentary variety of passive recreation opportunities.
